Pocketbook For Doris

A Butterick pattern, some prequilted material and a 12" zipper gets it done.
Why don't pocketbook patterns come with pockets? This one now has pockets and a sheet of cutting board plastic to protect the bottom. I was fussing about having to sew but now I have a couple more sewing projects I can't wait to start.

And our garden is growing!

Sewing Projects

Sewing is not my favorite thing to do but I do enjoy the projects that come from sewing.
I'm about to start a handbag for my friend, she's interested in the black bag on the pattern.
This is a bag I've been poking around with that I need to line. This picture doesn't do the fabric justice but I'll show you the finished bag later.

Lined Bag for Alabama

White, black and crimson, for football I suppose. I'd better look it up before I get in trouble!

Another custom order.

I'm pleased how the bag's come out so far. I used the new cord knit for the strap.

I Lined My Bag

It took more figuring than anything to line this crochet bag a made.

I finally made 2 bags fit inside each other. I wanted the pattern side of the material on the inside and outside.

Then while I was at it I put some matching ribbon on the inside of the strap. It really added strength and looks good.

How to close it??? I'd been doing a lot of toggles but this one seemed to need a snap.

 Nice

 Except

A flower would be nicer.

Old VCR's And Handbags

First things first, the Mod Podge sealed the Scrabble charms perfectly, no nipples!!! The pieces weren't fully dried so I was able to gently scrape the Paper Glaze off each piece. I only lost one transfer. All are drying just fine now.

Gil asked my husband if he could take apart the broken VCR. He wanted to find the laser, no problem. I said, let me have a look see when you're done.

Did you ever imagine that an old VCR component could become a handbag component???

As soon as I saw it I know what I was doing with it. The tricky part was attaching it. What do you think? I'm not finished yet, I'm working on a flap top.

There's still more fun stuff in here.

Oops!!! Gilbert gently let me know that this was a DVD player not a VCR.
