Don't Judge Gingerbread Makers

Our church makes gingerbread houses every year for a local Victorian Christmas celebration. We make the houses up and kids decorate them. In past years I've only made dough for others to bake. I used to have opinions about some of the baking skills my friends had. Broken edges, too dark, too light, no details... HOW DARE I!!! Baking these here houses is no easy feat I'll tell you.
Dear friends please accept my sincere apologies...
I had no idea how hard this was...
But they always look good in the end!

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas

Mr. Snowman is the only wintertime craft that didn't become a gift. That means I can show him to you. He plays The First Noel and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. I can also change his neckwear every year... if I feel like.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Christmas Past

Well, I've bombarded you with enough snowmen so I thought I'd wish everyone a merry with a couple Christmas' with my sister.
This was my favorite Christmas, my mom made us all the doll clothes and crib sets. I was told later it was my parents leanest year but we never noticed!
My sister and I collected all the farm animals during our visits to England to see relatives. I'm tempted to pull them out to play.
Merry Christmas
to you all
and thanks
for stopping by!

Snowmen On The Work Counter

I've switched over to snowmen which this lovely white wool lends its self to!
I understand what sculptors mean about a figure already being in a rock. When I looked this guy in his blank face he told me just what he was doing. He's a caroling snowman!
My yard gets a good trim every time I need arms for snowmen.

Christmas in July

I made one of these last year for myself.
I keep it up all year and hang different things on it.
In fact my mom made me some felt ornaments for it I should show you sometime.
I made this second one for Outdoor Craft Store http://www.outdoorcraftstore.com/ . The only craft fair I enjoy doing and it's in September.
I dare not mention what this item is besides an artificial pine tree. To me it's a reminder of those days when good people wrote things worth remembering for children.

Very Cool Gifts

Gilbert made all handmade gifts this year. He decided this would be the perfect gift for everyone.
Dad got the antler handle with carved wood hilt fillet knife.
I got the carved wood pairing knife that fits right in your hand.
Ro got the small zebra wood survival knife with suede lanyard and toggle.

Pretty cool right!

Memory Trees

True Christmas trees are a collection of objects we've acquired throughout the years. Today I've posted a few ornaments from my school days, my own childhood favorites and handmade and store bought from loved ones we miss.

Secret Shop

It's been a bit quiet around here because it's that time of year again.
I had many ideas pop up that I had to try...
and they all wound up being great gifts for my friends and family.
in the mean time, this is what I did with my hedgehog.
He's got more realistic markings.

White Christmas

I really wanted to do something with the rest of my music boxes. Since one of the boxes plays White Christmas I thought these guys would be appropriate.

The hole for the stand is off center so the box fits inside. How do you like the arms I found in the yard?

While the glue on the music box and lid dries I'll work on getting the snowman on the platform.

I use felt, I can felt, sew and glue it!

I left the rest of my thread from sewing the snowman to the felt so I can sew the edge later.

My second circle of felt has the hole in the middle.

He'll sit on another music box to dry overnight.
