Been a While Without Bears

The counter has been covered with bear making supplies for about 2 weeks now.

I'm almost done with this guy.

A couple snipped threads and embroidered claws will finish him up.

One thing I did want to mention, these are glass eyes which had been shiny.
I didn't like the shiny look so I sanded them. Now they look perfect!

Puts me in the right spirit to visit the

Sunflower

Sunflower is very cute and just a bit grumpy. She should fit in just fine.

Lots of Critters

This is Kitty, my accomplishment for the day.
He has a nice leather collar with bells...
sewn on glass eyes...
a long tail...
and needle felted toes.
I've pre-sewn more critters while I'm still in the mood.
This is that nose I modified...
this is the nose it came with. For this small stuffed animal I love the way the pattern creator suggested laying the pattern paper on top of the doubled fabric. I didn't have to worry about not catching all the edges!

She Needs A Name

I finished her paws this morning.

 She likes being a girl.

She also enjoyed the fresh air.
Oh and like I said, I haven't named her yet. I almost named her after my mother but I wouldn't be able to give her away then. I'm still working on her dress.

Karen's Capecowl

It's 40" around and 9 1/2 wide, but it stretches.

I said I was going to try a special cord but a simple one worked out just fine. I like simple solutions.
And this is what I got today, a bag/box from Intercal.

They had this fat quarter, or 1/4 yard of ultra sparse fabric on sale in a color I like.

So ya know what I get to do when I'm finished the anteater?

The Hedgehog Family Is Growing

The clay hedgehog on the left, Gilbert made last week. Only kidding he made it in elementary school. And Ro made the needle felted hedgehog recently.

This guy is made of 100% thick wool felt and I'm amazed at how well he turned out. My new favorite!

I think Ro wants this one.

This guy was made with the original materials we bought for the project. Different style and very cute.

The fuzzy one is still not quite finished but we're getting there.

I will take a break tomorrow, I've just had so many cool things to share lately!

Special Commission

I'm all cut out for my next project. A lot of it I'll need to hand sew. This face pattern is especially hard (see white kitty).

This project calls for long white mohair and lots of extra love and care. I'll show you how she turns out.

My Bear Alistair

I'll try to keep my bear making insecurities to a minimum but ignoring the imperfections I just love him. He's so cute! I finished him today after having to set him aside.
I don't think he likes the baby sweater though. My grand mom made it, we'll talk about it later Alistair.

Making Progress

Waiting on brown felt and glass eyes.

But I've felted his nose on.

 Looks better in person.

And the little guy is quite far too.

My First Mohair Bear

These guys where cut out by Friday morning with an on looker. 1/4 yard fat cut of mohair that I picked up at the Doll and Teddy Bear Convention. I started the next part in fear and trepidation.

They say it's easier to work with but shiny long hair still slides. The hardest part is sewing the head around the nose. Not to bad I even have the head joined and stuffed! I'm waiting on some wool felt for the paws but I'll keep doing what I can.
