Repurposing Pom Poms

A couple of years ago my mom encouraged me to make a pom pom scarf. Well, I finished it of sorts but I was always concerned that it would come apart so I set it aside.

I hated wasting the pom poms because they had been made with such a nice yarn.

I've started taking the scarf apart and I'm tidying up the individual pom poms. Mr. Owl is my first repurposed pom pom project!

Catching Up

I'm getting some jobs done that I've been ignoring.

These guys needed to have their pictures taken.

And to be put in my shop for Easter Time.

They wonder why it wasn't done sooner.

Probably because I have too much fun making these!

Snow Chicks

 Well, Daniel has the driveway clear...

 ...but the car's covered. That's fine I'm not going anywhere!

 This is where I am from yesterday.

 I want to strengthen their beaks with some glue...

 ...make sure their "feathers" are even...

...and glue them to their astro turf.

Pom Pom Owls

Nothing new to share today but I got all my mailing boxed up, yipee! Since I've been doing a lot of pom pom projects I thought I'd show you some past work.

Pom Pom Bird Ornaments

I thought I could get away with showing you these. I might send one to my mom, don't worry she doesn't have internet.

Pretty much the same as my pom pom chick tutorial. I think I should put all of my tutorials in one spot. I'll work on that.

I used glass beads for the eyes and I painted glue on the inside of the beak to stiffen it.

Cute little guys that will make nice gifts.

Reindeer Confusion

I'm working on eyes and noses today. That meant a trip to the fabric store. Pin heads are just too small sometimes and I wanted glass beads or buttons. The blue and green eyes here are just pins for placement.

The best time to work on reindeer's is when Simon is doing this!!!

Reindeer Time

I'm a little behind starting this project but better late than never.

Last year I came up with this guy for my brother-in-law who's into deers.

He's received good reviews so I need to make more.

Me and Ro

For a person who doesn't like crafts my mother certainly has a lot of ideas! Pretty much when she got here she had me working on this pom pom scarf. I hope I have enough yarn.

I'm still working on my husbands note book, yuck, but the Apple store called today and my baby is ready to be picked up!

And this was Ro's day, she likes when I post her hard work from school. On the left is a laxative, that's all I know. She says concocting this stuff isn't easy. I love hearing about how she brews medicinals from scratch.

Badgers

My sister just got back from visiting our mom in England and she's already started sending me pictures. This is my mom's backyard and where she feeds her badgers.

I couldn't resist revisiting an old project.

The Possibilities Are Endless

Because you always need friends.

Another polymer clay nose. The eyes are just plastic rounded disks I found next to the googly eyes. The trick to making these critters look right is shaping the head.

He has a nice bushy tail.

Polymer eyes and nose are not the easiest things to make. The challenge is making everything the right size for the face you're working on. Round headed pins are great but sometimes you need something bigger. Of course those googly eyes come in many shapes, sizes and even colors.
