Too Many Things At The Same Time

Never go poking around for new patterns when you already have a perfectly good one! Why would I do that to myself? This face is much harder and I'm not sure I like it. Though it is more cat like, where my pattern is more kitten like. This is a prototype.

Don't worry, I'm still working on the bears, they're to the right in a messy little pile. It's their foot pads that are holding me up.

I need to sew on it's ears, needle felt a nose and embroider a mouth.

Right, it needs a tail also. This piece is only jointed at the neck.

Finished another granny scarf this morning while on the phone with sis.

I like these colors. Are they the ones I used on the vest?

Wire crochet I did before bed last night while Daniel was hogging the bathroom.

I have to force myself to go grocery shopping today. When there are this many projects going on I want to stay home and work.

She's a Beauty

Another great yarn from the Patons SWS collection. This one is called Natural Earth and it's beautiful!

Just some granny squares and some gorgeous yarn.

Grannies Made Simple

I love making granny square scarves but anytime I make make a project easier I will! Here, instead of making single granny squares, I've started with a single crochet type chain the length I wanted the scarf.

I didn't count my stitches, though you're supposed to. That would have driven me crazy. I made a triple treble at the end to make my corners. Now I only have to stop to change colors or skeins. This one I'm only using one color but the next one I'll choose a couple. I had to make sure I could figure it out first.

I trebled into every third stitch down the chain with 1 stitch in between each treble. By the way, a treble is 3 double crochet done into one stitch. I made a triple treble at the opposite end and did the same down the other side making sure to treble into the same stitches as before. This makes the center look nice and neat.

Make your scarf as wide as you like. I'm probably adding a scallop row to finish.

Granny Square Scarf

I wanted a manageable project to start. This scarf is made up of 10 squares. Trust me, I'm not gonna try to show you how to make these squares. I told you where you should go to learn that. I'm not even sure if I'm doing it right but what ever I'm doing, I'm likin it!

Ya can't learn it if ya don't do it.

Granny Squares

My escape to friend Charlene gave me a young peoples kit for how to crochet. She had recently been turned onto the magic of granny squares and wanted me to join her. I had told her that I was a knitter and unlikely to ever figure out crochet. I take the train to see her so I have 2 hours to waste going up. The way up I listened to music and on the way back I learned to crochet. Not granny squares mind you but I got the fever. Thank the Lord for YouTube. I guess I'm a visual learner cause it didn't take long to figure it out. I realize that being a knitter helped because they're just stitches whether they're all worked on a needle or picked up with a hook. The above squares are my first, done with my little girl hook, which I love!

These I've been working on because they remind me of my grandmom. By the way I just learned (YouTube), how to connect the squares as you can see.

Either Skittles is hungry or curious.

I'm so pleased to have this new hobby, thanks Charlene! Oh, by the way Skittles wound up staying through out this posting and gave herself a bath in my lap.
