Trade Weekend Flowers

Being a Trade-A-Holic can sometimes give me a lot to do.

Like having to make a load of crochet flowers, not my favorite.

Gil and I tested the deodorant today, it was a success story! Try it out.

 I need to finish a few things on the masterpiece but I'm just about done.

Gil suggested the bee, my sister a dragonfly. I have to live with Gil.

Making Homemade Deodorant

My friend from knittingdragonflies had a tutorial a week back about making homemade deodorant. Me and Gil loved this idea! People make their own deodorant for several reasons but I won't go into all that because she covers the whole topic beautifully on her blog at:

This is the mess, I mean what we came up with.

A combination of ingredients that include an absorber, a moisturizer, a disinfectant and a scent.

They push up! We will test them tomorrow.

And this is my wool masterpiece so far. Gil says it needs a bumble bee.

Works of Art

Gilbert is very excited, I mean he's looking forward to opening his own Etsy shop. I'm still waiting for him to get his homeschool blog up! He's been working on some slingshots to list while waiting on all the details.

We often look through Etsy to see what other artists are doing and we found an amazing shop filled with needle felted art work. I don't know the person so I won't mention the specific shop. If you're curious search Etsy under needle felted landscape, she's not on the first page but you'll know who I'm talking about when you see it!

Gilbert encouraged me to go ahead and try it out. So here's my first go at it.

It seems to be about having the right picture and colors of wool. Back to work!

Another Dance Another Bouquet

This was my son's second semi-formal dance this year. I don't even think of him as a "go to dances" type of guy! So I'm back to making a bouquet. Gil told me the colors were black and silver and it was the Snow Dance.

This was the last spool of silver wired ribbon at the craft store and it had snowflakes on it, yippee!

I purchase the flowers the day before, cut and wrap them in floral tape, put them in a tall heavy mug with 1/2" of water in it and put them in the frig. The day of the dance I wrap the ribbon around and pin it down. It's not necessary to spend a ton of money on a bouquet that you can make yourself, especially when your son goes to so many dances!!!

No trouble with loading my picture today and as you can see it seems to be typing for me just fine. Happy day!

Here's something I just whipped up. I had this Light & Lofty yarn laying around for ages. I used the same pattern I've been using, minus one double, double crochet row. I'm sure that's not how you say it but hopefully you get my meaning. I posted the instructions for this on Monday I believe.

Oh, the flowers on the ends are simple due to the thick fuzzy nature of this yarn. Just make a 5 chain connected circle then chain 2. From here I half double crocheted 12 around, yes that makes 13. To finish slip stitch into the first one. Then sew on, have fun.
