Live Animal Trap

My needle felted weasel had been sitting in the closet for too long.

I had been trying to come up with a way to display him.

William's glad it's not him.

Life Size Weasel

 He's sure to behave...

not eat much...

 look at you lovingly...

 have clean paws...

 but I can't promise he'll keep his tail out of your food!

Ears Nose and Throat

 So close but I needed to take the day off.

 I had to do a couple other things

I couldn't just say ears and nose.

Yesterday Was Eyes

The first trick is getting the eyes pointing in the right direction.

Expect to use a lot of fiber to stabilize the eye area. Don't try working to much around plastic eyes because they will scratch, these are glass.

Don't bother with your accent color until you have the area built up.

Right now I think he looks like the Geico lizard. Today I'll work on his ears, that should help!

Waitin For Eyes

 Except for some fine tuning the body is done.

 The problem is you could spend a lifetime fine tuning!

William says he's perfectly kissable.

Paws With Claws

I'm starting to feel like I'm getting somewhere now. It's hard getting two paws to look alike and to be the same density.

But it's time to attach them!

I also finished up another bag for the well dressed hunter/target shooter!

Still Workin Away

He's always on my counter waiting for me.

He'll take a while. The hardest part is hand picking through the fiber.

Gil's still making slingshots and he's decided to make a slingshot hanger for his room.

This is his latest. When he has his hanger up I'll take a picture.

Weasel Stoat or Ermine

I made a cord for his tail that feels just like my cats tail. Then I took 3" small sections of fiber, folded them in half and felted the folded end into the core at 3/4" intervals. This is all very approximate.

Once the wool was in place I snipped the inserted fiber about an inch horizontally even with the cord all the way down and around. At the tip I rounded. The tail looks good...

now onto the rest!

Next Project

I've got a good base done for my next project. I told you I wanted to do something big, I meant realistic or to size. This guy is going to be a weasel.
