Fish Pond Game

I needed to whip up a quick fish game for our upcoming picnic at church.

Not A Car Wash

I've been selling glass bottle necklaces for a while. These necklaces where ones I originally used for a Vacation Bible School craft project. When I sell the necklaces I've always given the entire proceeds to young peoples missions trips.The link below shows you the VBS project.

VBS Day 4

 Last day of crafts.

 The kids did a great job putting their Bibles together!

It's so nice when it's over though, you never know how many kids will show up, all the preparation. It's worth it!

VBS Day 3

 These are from day 1.

 4 pieces from 1 lump of clay, very nice.

This was today's project, paper airplanes. Trust me, not everyone knows how to make one! I had volunteers wearing goggles and holding hula hoops in order to test our planes. We had a great time!

VBS Day 2

Here's what we did with these materials.

 I made a boring brown door but the kids made doors in every color.

 I need to start taking pictures of the kids work, shame on me.

 

Working On Day 2

It's not the prettiest swallowtail but I enjoyed having a good look at how beautiful his body was. He didn't mind me staring at him at all.

 OK day 2, here's what we'll start off with. These are 7" x 2 3/4" wood slats and 3/8" wood buttons.

Can you see where I'm going with this. I still need to think this one over. Do we draw panels on the door, does it have hinges???

Zip Lock Bag Organization

I put together hundreds of kids projects a year, whether for elementary school or VBS. The way to keep these projects clean and orderly is to put them in zip lock bags. Little or no passing out is required!

Then you have to go through making the project in your head so you don't forget anything. Like right now, looking at this picture, I know I need to get scissors out. I'll put this stuff into a bigger bag and set it aside knowing that I'm ready for day 1. Tomorrow I'll deal with day 2!

Don't Tell The Kids!

Remember these?

Cut black construction paper strips, 3/8" wide. White copy paper a tiny bit smaller.

Mark both at 1/4", the black twice.

Fold the black once and cut at the second 1/4". Accordion the white 3 times and cut.

Stick glue the white pages into the black jacket.

With a colored pencil that writes on black, title the book. Yes, very small.

This blog was titled Don't Tell the Kids because I always keep my Vacation Bible School craft projects a secret. This is difficult sometimes, they are very curious! The vials are filled with reminders for the kids, the Bible is their hope, a tiny heart button for love and a mustard seed for faith. We all need reminders for stuff! What could you fill a vial with?

When you start seeing this many of something at my house it might be time for Vacation Bible School. I've been doing the arts & crafts for VBS at my church for almost 20 years. Got any guesses what these are for???
