Laying a piece of freezer paper over the drying Celluclay 

forms these great bubble pockets and smooth areas. 

Cracked Gesso

I can count on gesso giving me a great crackle when I lay it on thick. With this one I focused on that detail.

Lines and Spaces

My first project in art school was creating a Mondrian. I still chant from time to time... Mondrian, lines and spaces. I put a layer of paper mache on a canvas and pushed the lines in with the edge of a ruler. I love all the texture. Once I got the colors the way I wanted them I aged it with a wash so it looked like it had been hanging on someones wall for 30 years.

New Ways of Adding Texture

I've been having fun experimenting with adding CelluClay to my paintings. It's an instant paper mache' that you can either add first, let dry and paint or add paint to it and use on the canvas.  A palette knife works well in applying the paint and clay. For this piece I only used 3 acrylic colors, white, orange and blue.

My favorite little painting. Like the reflecting pool painting, I dried fall sweet gum leaves and Mod Podged them with a thick layer on top of my stream.

Well it may not last long but I've broken out the brushes for gift giving.

 I did this one for my sister during a recent visit...

and though it resembles the fields she lives near in Louisiana, 

it is actually a field in the north of England. 

Also during my sister visit I faked a tattoo on my mom, hehe.
