I admire the work of many crafters and I sometimes have to make something similar for myself. This particular piece I first purchased for a gift and then made my own. This can be a very hairy scary business in the crafting world but usually it's alright if you copy something for your own use or a gift. I am very strict about this and sell only my own designs.
